Health Referral Programmes
Tue, 03/27/2012 - 16:02Our GP Referral Programme was one of the first in Scotland. Patients can improve their quality of life by taking part in assisted exercise programmes, safe in the knowledge that account will be taken of their specific medical conditions and needs.
We have specialist cardiac, diabetic and physio supported classes, which all run in conjunction with Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin.
For further details on how to attend these activities, please contact Referral Staff on (01343) 562742 or pick up a copy of our Health Referral brochure from our Main Reception.
Diabetes Referral Programme
Run in conjunction with Dr Grays Hospital and GPs - patients can ask to be referred by either.
This class is held every Wednesday from 9.15-10.45am and is designed to create knowledge with regard to diabetes and exercise, and help with the control of diabetes.
Every fortnight a Nurse, along with the Exercise Instructor, will be in attendance to deliver a half-hour talk to help you have a better understanding of diabetes.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Programme
Phase IV is a circuit based class, supervised by qualified British Association for Cardiocascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Phase 4 Instructors. Each class lasts for 1 hour, and is composed of a warm up, conditioning phase and cooldown.
Classes run twice weekly:-
Tuesdays 11.15am to 12.15pm, and Thursdays 11.15am to 12.15pm.
Clients are referred from a 8-week programme of Phase 3 Cardiac Rehabilitation based at Dr. Gray's Hospital, Elgin. During this Phase, they are supervised by a specialist Cardiac Nurse and a Physiotherapist.
The AIM (Active in Moray) Link Programme
This is run in conjunction with Dr Grays Physiotherapy Department.
Patients are invited after physiotherapy or the 8-week physio course, to the Centre, and can then take part in an exercise programme specific to their needs, either through classes or via the gym.
Weight 'n' See Class
You can access the Weight and See class either through the GP Referral Programme or as a general user of the Leisure Centre.
It is a fun 1-hour machine-based session on Fridays from 11.30am to 12.30pm, with general advice on exercise and healthy eating along with a weigh-in should you wish.
