Swimming Lessons

SWIMMING LESSONS:-

Moray Leisure Centre aims to ensure confidence in the water as well as learning what is, essentially, a vital life skill.

Our aim for all children participating in our lessons is for them to enjoy the water and realise the fun that can be had in a safe environment by building confidence in their own ability.  Throughout all levels children are led through a progressive, multi-phased programme to learn the building blocks of swimming.

•    Our Starfish Programme invites Pre-school children (6 months – 3.8 years) to get used to the water and introduce aqua skills with a parent in the water to support them.

•    Our popular main stream lessons are available mornings (from 3.8 years of age), afternoons and weekends (from 4 years).  We begin with the basics and run through all the strokes.  Each group concentrates on one stroke, allowing children to develop their swimming quickly and easily.

•    Advanced skills classes are available for children who have learned all the swim strokes and want to have more fun!

•    Stroke improver – develops endurance and offers a pathway to join a Swimming Club

•    Personal Survival – water safety education, allowing a person to be safe in water

•    Junior Lifesaving – lifesaving skills, basic first aid, teamwork and fun

•    Snorkel & Mask – 3 levels available which helps children to be safe and have fun at a Pool or while away on holiday

•    Diving – safe foundation practices for diving

JOINING:-
Swimming lessons at Moray Leisure Centre are very popular and spaces are limited.  If you wish to join our Swimming Lesson Programme you can request to be added to our waiting list by contacting our Lesson Development Co-ordinator on (01343) 550033.

LESSON PROGRESSION:-
If you would like to discuss your child’s progress, or have ideas on how to help your child learn more effectively, please contact the Lesson Development Co-ordinator to arrange a meeting or request a call back.  We welcome your questions and feedback.

WE DO REQUEST THAT YOU REFRAIN FROM TALKING TO YOUR CHILD’S INSTRUCTOR BEFORE OR AFTER THE CLASS, AS THIS CAN HAVE AN ADVERSE EFFECT AND DELAY THE NEXT INTAKE OF CHILDREN WAITING FOR THEIR LESSON.

ASSESSMENTS:-
Assessments are continual throughout the lesson block, with final assessments n the Main and Learner Pool during the final week of block.

PROGRESSION CRITERIA:-
Children will progress to the next level after achieving the assessment criteria either on assessment day or when the Teacher highlights to the Lessons Development Co-ordinator, who will assess mid-block.

RE-ENROLMENT:-
Once your child has been assessed please contact our Lessons Assistant (located at the Bookings Enquiries desk at main Reception) immediately for the result, you can then get your child booked into the correct group for the next block.

ABSENCES:-
If a child is unable to attend lessons due to sickness or any other reason, please notify Reception to ensure that your space is kept.
Please note that any missed lesson(s) must be paid for.

PAYMENT:-
It should be noted that full payment is due during the first week of the lesson block.
In the event of failure to pay by the end of the second week it will be deemed that you no longer wish to remain in lessons and your space will be allocated to another customer immediately.
